Same-day Yellow Fever certificate (ICVP) in London
Barbican Pharmacy & Clinic is a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre under the official NaTHNaC scheme. We administer the vaccine and issue the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) in a single 30-minute appointment. Same-day appointments are routinely available with two hours' minimum notice.
Every appointment is led by Asad Repon, a GPhC-registered Independent Prescriber. We're at 36 Goswell Road — four minutes' walk from Barbican station and five minutes from Bank.
The 10-day rule — the most important thing to know
The ICVP certificate becomes valid 10 days after the vaccination date. Then it lasts for life under the 2016 amendment to the International Health Regulations. This 10-day rule catches many same-day callers by surprise.
Three practical scenarios:
- Trip in 10+ days — perfect. Vaccinate today, certificate valid by the time you arrive. Done.
- Trip in less than 10 days — three options: (1) Vaccinate anyway and accept the risk of refused entry; (2) Medical exemption letter if you have a clinical reason you can't receive the vaccine — not all countries accept these; (3) Delay the trip by 10 days.
- Trip today or tomorrow — same-day vaccination still possible but the certificate won't validate in time. Discuss exemption letter options at the consultation. See our last-minute travel guide for the full options.
What's in the 30-minute appointment
- Eligibility check — we go through age, immune status, egg allergy, pregnancy, breastfeeding, thymus history. About 5 minutes.
- Vaccination — single dose of Stamaril, administered in the upper arm. Quick.
- ICVP issued — yellow international certificate, stamped, dated and signed. Becomes valid 10 days from today, valid for life.
- Aftercare advice — what to expect in days 5-10 post-vaccination (mild reactions are normal).
For corporate clients
City firms with regular sub-Saharan African or South American travel set up corporate accounts for Yellow Fever vaccinations. Monthly invoicing, VAT receipts, dedicated billing contact. Same-day capacity is part of the value — when a deal accelerates and a partner needs to fly to Lagos tomorrow, the certificate (subject to 10-day rule) needs to happen now.
For first-time visitors, we accept card payment with a VAT receipt issued on the day.
Common scenarios we handle
- Deal-team Lagos trips — 5-15 person teams needing certificates before sub-Saharan African M&A. See our business travel clinic page.
- Journalist deployments — single foreign correspondents flying to West/Central African assignments.
- São Paulo executive visits — individual senior executives heading to Brazil.
- Last-minute safaris — family or solo travel to East Africa.
- Aid sector deployments — NGO workers heading to Yellow Fever endemic regions.
The certificate is accepted globally
Our ICVP is issued under the UK's NaTHNaC scheme, which is the recognised authority. The certificate is accepted at every international border that asks for proof of Yellow Fever vaccination. We make sure it's filled out correctly, dated, signed and stamped.
